Notes: Born in the first quarter of 1846 (15,235). In 1851(census) living in Hann ington with parents and three siblings, plus a half brother and half sist er from father's first marriage. William was a boarder at Claybrooke Schoo l, near Lutterworth in Leicestershire at the time of the 1861 census. In 1 871(census) he was living with his father and four siblings at 54, East Su rrey Grove, Camberwell. He is described as a General Attorney. By 1881(cen sus) he had married and was living with his wife and her parents at 23, Be dford Square, Brighton, Sussex. He is now a Solicitor. In 1891(census) t he family, by now with five children, had moved to 15, Sylvan Road, Upp er Norwood, Croydon. The family employed four servants - a housemaid, co ok and two childrens' nurses. By 1901(census) William and Annie had mov ed to 9, Duppas Hill Road, Croydon, with two of their children and a co ok and a parlourmaid. William by now had his own solicitors' practis e. He is described in the census as an 'employer'.
