Notes: Joseph Jr. 's father was a bricklayer as was Joseph Jr., which was considered a very prestigious and wealthy trade. The story tells he fell in love with one of their domestic servants, Annie Elizabeth Dell. Joseph Sr. disapproved and disowned Joseph Jr. due to the difference in their station in life. I think Annie had a child, William Joseph who was born in Speen, Newbury Berks. Joseph and Annie married August 3, 1885 in East Illsley, Berks. They had 4 more children, Herbert James, John (Jack), Florrie and Beatrice Annie who was born December 26, 1889. Annie took ill after the birth of Beatrice and she died February 7, 1890 at the young age of 31 years. Joseph was so distraught over losing her that he took his own life.
