Notes: William H Herring was born in Lewes, East Sussex in 1857 his parents we re William & Elizabeth Herring. In 1861 (census) William (known as Willi e) aged 4yrs is living in the officers Barracks, Chatham dockyard with h is parents & siblings. In 1871(Census) Willie (listed as Henry W Herrin g) is 14yrs old, he is attending Greenwich Hospital school which was a Nav al College his Brother Frank is also attending. In 1881(census) Willi am is now 24yrs old and a Customs Officer, he is living at 1 Metal St, Roa th in Wales with his wife & baby Daughter. It Appears that William & Ma ry Moved to Belfast between 1881& 1891 which may account for not being ab le to locate them in the 1891 Census. It also appears that William Died a nd the Family returned to England as Mary is a Widdow in the 1901 censu
