Elijah then Joins the Army in the 43rd Regiment after wh ich he returns to Long Melford as a Pensioner and has an illegitimate s on with Matilda Mitchell. Elijah died on 6th July 1867 aged 43yrs at Lo ng Melford. He died from 'Disease of the Liver' and Hemmorage of the bow el this is likely to have been caused by accessive drinking.
