In 1881(census) living at Rotten Ro w, Raunds, Northants, with parents and six siblings. He is a Schola r. In 1891(census) Benjamin is a Porter at the Union Workhouse in Rugb y, Warwickshire. His sister Mary Jane is the Schoolmistress there. In quar ter to June 1895 Benjamin married Lizzie who gave birth to Hilda the follo wing year, sadly she died in 1898. However in 1900 Benjamin marries aga in this time to Rachel Campbell a Nurse from the London Chest Hospital a nd the family move to Devon. In 1901(census) he is Master of the St Thom as Union Workhouse in Devon, his new wife is the Matron. In 1911(censu s) Benjamin is 43yrs old, he is now Master of the Sevenoaks Workhouse a nd is living there with his Wife & Daughter.
