Notes: Henry Thomas More served in the WW1, it is unclear in wha t regiment he served , but it was where horses were used an d when he left the army in 1918 he wanted to be a police ma n and work with horses, however he joined the LMS railway w here he worked as a carman, in Islington possibile from Kin gs X Railway Station, They moved from Barnsbury Islington t o Dagenham then a new town to have a larger house. A Tall a nd well built gentleman, I have memories of visiting them i n their house in the heathway, there was a pair of horns ov er the kitchen door maybe antleope or something similar, w e were not allowed in the front room as this was the best r oom only used at Christmas. Prior to living at the Heathway the family lived in Churc h Elm Lane when they first moved from Islington, there wa s a pub opposite called Glennys Bar, a one bar establishmen t, it later became the Church Elms He frequented a public house the Church Elms, walking dista nce and indeed staggering distance on some ocassions from w here he lived with my Grandmother. My Aunt Lillian tells me that her mother and father were bi g drinkers, and that they would leave all 3 girls at the ho use in Church Elm Lane go to Kings X for a drink and nolt r eturn until the morning. My Grandfather had a Chow called Chinnie who would rule th e house until he came home and then it would behave, they later had a Samod name Trix e pure white there is a photograph with my sister Patricia together with the dog My last recollection of my grandfather was an occasion whe n I was out with my father in the Heathway shopping centr e and my grandfather have a truck that had broken down on t he Church Elm side of the Heathway Hill, he had a split pet rol tank and I had to chew chewing gum so that he could tr y and repair the hole in the tank.
