Notes: Pierre was the progenitor (stamvader) of Rousseau family in South Africa . He was a French Huguenot from Orleanais / Menars-la-Ville. He arrive d in the Cape in 1688 on the ship "Borssenburg" which carried Huguenots t o the Cape of Good Hope. It was the 2nd ship to leave the Netherlands, b ut the 3rd ship to arrive at the Cape (150 feet long, could carry 80 pass engers). It set sail on 6 Jan 6 1688 and arrived in the Cape on 12 May 1 688. He was member of the Heemraad and one of the first deacons in the Drakens tein congregation. In 1694 he settled on "L'Arc d' Orleans" in Drakenstein, and on the far m "Vleesbank", Wagenmakersvallei (north of Wellington) in 1704, as well a s "Sanddrift" in the Land van Waveren.
