In 1871(census) Jo hn is 13yrs old, he is an inmate in an Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb in Oxf ord Street, Liverpool, which was actually a school for the Education of De af Children. In 1881(census) John is 23yrs old, he is Head of the Househo ld Whilst his Parents are away visiting Relatives in Walgrave, Northampton shire and is in Charge of his four Siblings at 160, Phillips Street, Asto n, Warwickshire, John now works as a Letter Cutter. In 1891(census) Jo hn is 33yrs old, he & his family are at 31, Lime Grove, Handsworth, Staffo rdshire, and John is still a Letter Cutter. By 1901(census) John is now 43 yrs old, he is now head of the Household, and his Widdowed Mother & Sist er live with him. They are living at 10 Clarence Road, Aston, John is n ow described as a Letter Cutter in Metal.
