Notes: Mary Knight was born abt 1830, at Walgrave, Northamptonshire to Joseph & E lizabeth Knight. In 1841 (census) Mary is 11yrs old she is living in Walg rave with her Parents & Siblings. In 1851 (census) Mary is 21yrs ago livi ng at 24 Laurence Terrace, Rugby, were she is employed as a General servan t. Her employer is Frances Waneford who lives with her Brother, Sister & t wo children (with different surnames to their mother) she part of a lar ge number of Servants. Mary married John Steanes, the Apprentice of her Br other Anthony at Kensington, in June 1855. In 1861 (census) Mary is 31y rs old, she is living at 14 Preeswene with her husband & three sons. In 18 71(census) Mary is 41yrs old, she is visiting John and Catherine Wats on at 62, Wheeler Street, Birmingham. Mary is described as Sister-in-Law ( It seems likely that Catherine Watson is a sister of John Steanes) also wi th her is one of her Daugthers, also called Cathrine. In 1881 (census) Ma ry is 51yrs old, she and her Husband are visiting her Brother William Knig ht at No45 Walgrave, leaving the Children at home. In 1891 (census) Ma ry is 61yrs old, she is living at 31 Lime Grove, Hansworth, Stratford. wi th her Husband & Adult Children, it also appears that Their Daughter Cathr ine's two children are staying with them at the time too. And 1901 (censu s) Mary is now 71yrs old, she is now a Widdow & her remaining son at ho me is now head of the house and one of her Daughters is also living at t he address which is 10 Clarence Road, Handsworth, Staffordshire. Mary Di ed in 1909 aged 79yrs.
