Notes: Ellen Elizabeth Herring was born in Chatham, Kent on the 08/11/1835, her p arents were William & Elizabeth Herring. In 1841 (census) Ellen is 6yrs o ld and living at Burn Oak, Little Stanmore, Middlesex with her parents & S iblings. In 1851(Census) Ellen is 15yrs old and living at Manor House in C lapham, she is living with her parents, Silbings & 20yr old servant Jane W hite, she is described as at Home. In 1861 (census) she is a Governe ss at the Nuneton Union Workhouse, Chilvers Coton, Warwickshire, her sist er & Brother in Law are Master & Matron there, she appears to be teachi ng her niece also called Ellen. She is back at Manor St,Clapham by 1871(ce nsus) living with her mother aged 29yrs. But disappears in the 1881 cens us only to turn up again in the 1891 census in Clapham so may have be en on Holiday. In 1901 (census) she is living in Camberwell, London. She n ever Married.
