Notes: Robertson Whybrow Smith was born on 18th August 1870 at Hurst Rd, March, C ambridgeshire to William & Anne Smith. In 1881 (census) Robertson is 10y rs old & attending school he is living on Hurst lane, March with his Paren ts & Siblings. By 1891 (census) Robertson is 20yrs old his Parents & Sibli ngs have moved to Wells in Norfolk, but he is still living at Mill Hill Dr ove, March as a lodger in the Household of Thomas Dorrington, he is worki ng as a Railway Engine Cleaner. Robertson married Jessie Hall on 4th Ju ne 1894 at Wells, Parish Church, Wells Next Sea, Norfolk. By 1901 (censu s) Robertson is 30yrs old, he is living at : Creek Lane, March, with his w ife & Children, Robertson is now a Railway Engine Fireman. Robertson w as a fireman untill 1902 when he became an Engine Driver. In 1911 (censu s) Robertson is 40yrs old, he is living at 8 NEW RD WOODSTONE PETERBOROU GH with his Wife & Children (although one Daughter is in Norfolk) he is n ow working as an Engine Driver. he worked for Great Eastern Railways for a bout 50yrs before retiring. Robertson Died between January & March of 19 61 aged 90yrs, Death Announcement Mr. R. W. Smith, - Mr Robert W Smith (90) of 212 Oundle Road, died on Mond ay at his home, after an illness of about a month. Born at March, Mr Smi th moved to Woodston in 1907. He was employed on the railway as an engi ne driver at the March depot. He retired after 50 years’ service with t he Great Eastern Railway Co. His wife died in September 1960 and he leav es two sons and six daughters. The funeral was at St. Augustine’s yesterd ay, attended by members of the family, and cremation followed at Marholm.
