Notes: William Smith was born in the 10th February 1846, in March, Cambridgeshi re to Joseph & Susanna Smith. In 1851 (census) William is 5yrs ol d, he is living at Little London, March with his parents & siblings, his f ather died within days of the Census being taken, possibly as the resu lt of an accident. In 1861(census) William is 15yrs old he is living at Re ed Fen Farm, March is a lodger and working as an Agricultural Laboure r. He is working for George & Ann Barnes, it appears the may have marri ed one of his their relatives possibly a Niece. William Married Anne Barn es at The Wesleyan Chapel, March on 21st October 1869. By 1871 (Census) Wi lliam is 25yrs old, he is living with his wife, baby Son & his In La ws on Hurst Lane, March, he is now a Labourer on the Railways. In 1881 (ce nsus) William is now 35yrs old, he is still living on Hurst Lane but in h is own right, with his wife & Children, he is still a Railway Laboure r. By 1891 (census) William now 45yrs old has been promoted, he is now a R ailway Inspector for Great Eastern Railways, he & his family have also mov ed to Stanley Cottage, Theatre Road, Wells Next Sea, Norfolk. On the 4th S eptember 1891 William was a Witness for the marriage of his Daughter Ma ry to Fredrick Waterson. In 1901 (census) now 55yrs old William is a Perm enant way Inspector for the Railway & is still living on Theatre Road, Wel ls with his Wife & Children. On 1st November 1903 William was a Witne ss at the marriage of his Daughter Emily to Walter Wright and on the 4th A pril 1904 he was also a Witness at the marriage of his Daughter Alice to C harles Dickenson. In 1911(Census) William is 65yrs he is living at MADD OW HOUSE FREEMAN STREET WELLS NORFOLK with his Wife, he is now a railway P ensioner.
