Notes: Annie Bessie Herring was born in 1853 in Ascention Island just off the Sou th African Coast, her parents were William & Elizabeth Herring. By 1861 (c ensus) now 8yrs old Annie had moved to England and was living with her fam ily as an inmate in the Royal Marines Quarters at the Royal Naval Dockya rd in Chatham,Kent. Her father was serving as an RM Barrack Sarjent. In 18 71 (census) Annie is 18yrs old yet she is still attending school, her fami ly have also moved out of the Barracks and are living at 3 Whitaker Terrac e, Chatham. Annie became a School Mistress & Married Felix Britten (a Scho ol Master) in 1877. In 1881 (census) 28yr old Annie & her husband have a d aughter and are living in the school house, at Sedlescome, Kent where h er husband is the School Master. Annie & Felix went on to have another Da ughter in 1887 but Felix died in 1890 in Lewes, East Sussex. In 1891 (Cens us) 38yr old Annie now a Widdow is bringing up her two Daughters at the Sc hool House in Ditchlingham Norfolk, where she is School Mistress, also liv ing at the Address as a pupil school Teacher. Annie Married again betwe en July & September of 1892 to Robert Morriss a Master Builder. In 1901 (C ensus) Annie now 48yrs old is living with her Husband and Step-Daughter s, also staying with her is her sister Mary (a Nurse) and Mary's friend (a lso a Nurse). Annie Died in 1904 aged 51yrs.
