Notes: Birth registry (3b,122). In 1901(census) with her mother in Old, Northant s. She is a Schoolteacher. In 1911(census) Edith is 27yrs old, she is liv ing at Briar Bank, Hawthorn Road, Carlshalton, Surrey, along with her Husb and & Brother. There is also a Servant at the House. A family bible inscribed Edith E. Knight, Old, Northampton, may well ha ve been handed down to her by her mother. Most of the early notes are of t he Britten family, with relationships to Sarah. The later entries a re as related to Edith. The final entry reads "Richard Phillip Britten ( my beloved younger son) died January 17, 1942, aged 27 years in HMS Destro yer Matabele. Lieut R.N." (Edith had also lost two brothers in action dur ing the First World War) she had her second Son in The Brixworth area most likely in Old, Northan ts & she settled with her family in Rottingdean, Sussex, A family bib le inscribed Edith E. Knight, Old, Northampton, may well have been hand ed down to her by her mother. Most of the early notes are of the Britten f amily, with relationships to Sarah. The later entries are as related to E dith. The final entry infers that Edith married a Britten (possibly a cous in on her mother's side) in Sept 1909. The entry reads "Richard Phillip Br itten (my beloved younger son) died January 17, 1942, aged 27 years in H MS Destroyer Matabele. Lieut R.N."
