Notes: Sarah Elizabeth Britten was born on 14th January 1857, she was born in Wal grave, Northamptonshire. Sarah's Parents were Teachers, her father being E dward Britten & Mother Amelia Johnson. she was Christened on March 3rd 18 57 at Walgrave. In 1861 (census) Sarah is 4yrs old and living at the Walgr ave School House with her Parents, Siblings & Grandmother. In 1871(censu s) Sarah is 14yrs old, she is living with her Parents & Siblings at the Sc hool House in Walgrave and is a Pupil Teacher. Sarah Married Samuel Knight on 10th January 1881 and in the census of t hat year she has moved to Old (Wold), Northamptonshire, at the Corner Hou se with her husband. The witnesses at the wedding were Edward Britten, fat her of Sarah, and Ellen Knight, sister of Samuel. In 1891(census) sti ll in Old with husband and three children. The 1901 census shows Samuel a nd sons Frances and Edgar with Samuel's brother, William, in Walgrave, whi lst Sarah is in the marital home,The Corner House in Old with the young er children. In 1911(Census) Sarah is 54yrs old, she is still living wi th her Husband & two youngest Children at the Corner House in Old. Sarah w as a Schoolmistress before her marriage she took on the role of Butchers W ife, she was very well known for her acts of kindness as she used to gi ve food to the elderly unknown to her husband, her husband gave her a ha rd life and she also lost two of her sons in WWI yet she remained a very k indly lady. Sarah Died on 26th April 1936 aged 79yrs
