Notes: Thomas Moore Knight was born on 31st July 1855 in Walgrave, Northamptonshi re, he was the sixth child of Anthony & Mary Knight. Thomas was christen ed on September 11th 1855 when he was just over a month old. In 1861(cens us) Thomas was 5yrs old and attending school, he is living with his paren ts and eight siblings in Walgrave. In 1871(census) 15yr old Thomas, has le ft home & started work, he is a Carpenters Apprentice living with his empl oyer, Master Carpenter Hervey Martin in Victoria Road, Northampton St. Gil es. In 1881 (census) Thomas had returned to Walgrave and is living with h is mother and sister at Walgrave Post Office, He is now 25yrs old and a Jo urneyman Joiner, though he is not yet married. In 1891 (census) Thom as is 35yrs old & is still not married, he is living in Walgrave with h is mother & Aunt who are retired Widows, he is now a Carpenter. Thomas fin ally Married in 1894 to Elizabeth Hodges (a strict Baptist who was 20yrs h is junior), she is said to have converted him to her church. By 1901 (cens us) Thomas is 45yrs old & is living at 33 Northampton Road, Walgrav e, he is living there with his wife, two children, his brother Samuel is s taying with him as well as two of Sam's sons. Thomas is now a Carpent er & Joiner. The census also shows that Thomas's mother & Aunt are livi ng nextdoor one side and his Uncle William & Aunt Mary The other. In 1911( census) Thomas is 55yrs old, he is living at THE FERNS WALGRAVE NORTHAMPT ON with his Wife & three younger Children all boys and is still a Carpente r. My Grandfather Phillip Knight Remember's visiting them as a child, Thom as was known as Uncle Tom to him. He remember's having to sit on the stai rs as a child at their home and newspaper around the furniture leggs to pr otect the woodwork.
