Notes: Hepzibah Wooston Barritt was born on January 8th 1822, in Walgrave, Northa mptonshire. Her Parents were local Groccer Samuel Barritt & his Wife Jemim a. She was christened at about 4mths old on the 2nd June 1822, at the Wesl eyan Methodist Church, Kettering, Northamptonshire. There appea rs to be no record of her where abouts in the 1841 census, however on t he 5th February 1843 Hepzibah was Baptised, it appears that her family con verted to Baptists around this time. Hepzibah married Richard Knight a m an 27yrs her Senior, on 5th July 1844. Later She & her Husband were wittne sses at the Marriage of Hepzibah's Sister Mary to Richard's Nephew Antho ny Knight. Hepzibah Joined her husband to live at Walgrave Hall where he w as the Tenant Farmer. In 1851(census) Hepzibah & her husband Richard a re at Walgrave Hall, Richard is a Farmer of 93acres and Employs 2 Labore rs They are 16yr old Samuel Dunmore & 15yr old William Linnell, was we ll as 16yr old Cathrine Wills who is a General Servant. Also the couple ha ve Baptist Minister John Nichols staying with them. In 1861(census) The co uple still have 93 Acres but now Three Labourers are Employed two of th em Mary Ann Fox (23) & William Nichols (16) are residing at the Hall wi th them as well as another Visiting Baptist Minister James Snoe. By 1971(census) the couple are stil at the farm but their 12 year old nep hew Richard Knight is staying with them. The couple had no children of the ir own and so treated young Richard like a son, he was supposed to take ov er the Tennancy upon his Grt uncles Death, but decided to emigrate to Aust raila instead. Again there are two Servants in Residence 16yr old Eliza Fi tzhugh & Thomas Bilisay also aged 16yrs. In 1881 (census) The Farm was n ow only 80 acres, Hepzibah & her husband are still living there, they a re being visited by Fellow Farmer Thomas Knight (possibly a Distant rela tive), Elizabeth Smith a 56yr old Charwoman & 25yr old William Wardle a Gl ove Manufacturer. they have two employee's who no longer live with them. H epzibah's Husband Died on 5th August 1888 and in 1891 (census) Hepzib ah as moved in with her sister & Nephew Thomas in Walgrave. By 1901 (censu s) is living on Northampton Road, Walgrave with her sister Mary Ann, wid ow of Anthony Barker Knight & Her niece.
