Notes: Samuel Barrett (Barritt) was born in Cransley, Northamptonshire, on 1st Fe bruary 1798, His parents were George & Ann Barrett. Samuel Married Jemi ma Woolston from Bambury, Oxfordshire on 5th October 1821, they marri ed in Walgrave, Northamptonshire and settled there Wittnesses to the marri age were William Munden & William Jaquest. In 1841 (Census) Samuel is 40y rs old, he is a Groccer in Walgrave & living with his wife & three of h is children. In 1851 (Census) Samuel & Jemima are still living in Walgra ve with three of their sons. The Kelly's Directory of 1854 list's h im as a local shopkeeper. By 1861 (census) Samuel, his wife & son Elijah a re living in Walgrave Post Officer, Samuel now 65yrs old, was Walgrave's f irst Post Master, Note that Elijah is an Invalid shoe Maker. In 1871(Censu s) Samuel & his wife are still living and working at the Postoffic e, he is now 72yrs old. Also living with him is his 21yr old Grandaught er Ellen Knight & Sister Elizabeth Morre. The Kelly's Directors show 's he is still working as a Groccer in 1876. Samuel's wife Died in 1877 a nd he followed her between January & March of 1878 aged 80yrs. The runni ng of the Post Office passed to his Daughter Mary, who was now the Widd ow of Anthony Knight.
